Manchin Supports Kelo Ruling, Says Taking Private Property for Economic Development OK

Say it ain't so, Joe.

After I began posting about the false ad being run by the Mon county Democratic committee, a very trustworthy friend of mine sent me the following e-mail:

On August 25, Governor Manchin addressed a group of students at the WVU College of Business and Economics. I was there. In response to a direct question from a member of the faculty, the Governor stated explicitly that he did not believe it was necessary to change the state's laws in the aftermath of Kelo v. New London. Apparently, the Supreme Court's ruling was just fine with him; I don't know how that view can be considered "support" of private property rights.

The ad is a bald-faced lie.
